How I choose to start my day is an indication of how the rest of my day will go. Pretty simply, if I choose to listen to negativity, then my day will be negative. If I choose positivity, my day will be positive. The three positive audio go-to’s I have are 1) the Joel Osteen channel on Sirius XM, 2) the “Mornings With God” playlist and 3) “Have The Best Day Ever” playlist.
In the past, whenever I listened to negative music or trashy morning talk shows, I got stressed and uneasy as soon as I walked into work. Life is stressful enough as it is. If I have the ability to control some things, I try to make my life as easy and enjoyable as I possibly can. Unfortunately, thinking positively requires more energy than thinking negatively, especially when you’re tired. This is one of the reasons why Monday is the most difficult day to stay positive.
I used to really dread Mondays until a wise gentlemen said to me, “If you choose to be miserable every Monday, then you are choosing to be unhappy for at least one seventh of your life.” I never really thought of it that way before. It made me realize that adding a second unhappy day to the week would equate to being unhappy almost thirty percent of my life. I was reminded that regardless of the circumstances, being positive is a choice. Being positive is always an option. Life is too short to be miserable fifty, thirty, or even fifteen percent of the time.
What better way to prophesy having a great day than singing, “This is going to be the best day of my life” by the American Authors? Playing positive music not only reduces the amount of extra energy it takes to think positive. After a while, these positive playlists can reverse the positive-negative paradigm by requiring more energy to think negative.
